| THE MUMMERS PLAY This production took place at the end 1993, and was repeated in 2013, with some of the original cast taking part. Click HERE for details of the 2013 production. The origin of Mummers' plays is obscure, some saying that they date back to Celtic or Roman times. They were undoubtedly performed by travelling groups in the middle ages, but this performance-art form almost died out even in rural areas. The tales concerned themselves with death and resurrection.
