Lighting of the Beacon, 9.00
pm – field
opposite the Community Hut.
A substantial crowd gathered to witness the start of Winsham's
celebrations with the lighting of the Beacon. On
high ground, affording wonderful views over the village and surrounding
countryside, other Beacons could be seen flickering in the
distance. Disabled villagers were able to access the event.

Sunday Afternoon 5th June –
Celebration Tea Party
This celebration tea party was planned to take place on
the Lower Rec. park at 2.30pm.
But the weather forecast predicted rain, so it was
decided to change, at very short notice the venue to the
Jubilee Hall. It remained a ' bring your own cream
tea or picnic' to enjoy together.
It proved a great success; resplendent with bunting and
Union Jack flags, a packed Jubilee Hall hosted the
afternoon tea party, with some beautifully decorated
tables. We
toasted the Queen and stood for the National Anthem. Then
we all tucked into splendid afternoon teas. The
'Best Dressed Table' was awarded to Paul and Emma Hill,
winning a hamper generously donated by Jane and Rose
from The Bell. Children
sat on a fur-lined throne to show off their Crowns, with
first prize awarded to Sapphire Adams. (Quite
a few adults also sat on the throne, including Nancy
Bailiff, who at 99 years young, was the most senior
citizen there!!). We
all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon, with a friendly
atmosphere and smiles all round.
